My brother was overrun by a taxiedriver 3 weeks ago. Injuries: broken pelvis 5 places, both ankles (surgery) one arm (surgery) elbow (2 operations), liver and kidney problems,
all of these are well cared for. He is under constant pain and medication. Previous day he was sent to a ordinary ward. This morning back in ICU…..cant breath well…light ammonia. We have prayed and are still praying for physical , emotional and spiritual healing. He has connected with his children after a few years. Has been divorced for about 15 years. Life hasnt been good to him, but he also had issues in his personal life. We pray that God will give him yet another chance to “correct” things and to be a witness to God’s glory. Why is it that we (I ???} ) dont get a clear answer from God? I read, but feel that the answers I get, can mean anything to both sides. Should we only be “comfort” in Him? This is the word which stands out so clearly the last 2 to 3 weeks. Will you plz pray for all of us in South-Africa?

The verses are all great and seem to follow a common thread. They remind me of how far we have strayed to put our trust in in the medical profession, rather than God. In Matthew 10:1, Jesus gave His disciples authority to heal the sick in His name. I believe He will continue to heal us and others through us, if only we have faith in Him and call out in prayer.

I really liked all of the verses but the first one Exodus 15:26 states the things that we need to do. We need to listen and obey. That is telling me that I need to eat healthier because I believe from my past ways of eating so unhealthy has brought on the many diseases that I am facing right now. But I do believe God is healing me and will restore me to full health, because his word says that he will. I will work on my part by doing a better job of eating healthy. But I am blessed because I have been able to share hope and encouragement with other people that have the same diseases that I have that do not have Jesus. So God is working through this sickness and that brings me blessing. But my hope and my trust is in his word that says he is my healer. Thank you for sharing these verses it has blessed and touched me today and encouraged me to continue to have hope and faith that healing is on the way. Praise God.

I value all those verses. I didn’t realize until recently that the word translated healing in the NT stems from the Greek ‘Sofi’ (I think that is how it is spelt) and this is an amazing word for it can refer not only to physical healing but spiritual healing, healing from sin. being forgiven and saved. The two are often related and interchangeable. This suggests that behind physical sickness and disease lies the cause which has to do with our relationship with God, our rebellion and brokenness. Thanks be to our gracious Father for giving us Jesus, our Savior, Lord and Healer. He is everything we need!

The verses from James 5:14-16 (even though they are presented separately above). We are all various parts of the same body, and are told to show as deep a concern for each other as our Lord showed/shows for us. They say,

While I believe that God does heal, I also believe that God allows suffering. As people of faith, we walk the way of suffering just as Jesus did. Every verse has a context. Sometimes the promise is a general principle that (like all general principles) does not apply everywhere for all time and sometimes the promise is historically limited.

It is important that we realize that God can heal our our spirit even though our bodies are ravaged by pain and suffering. When we walk this path, we walk the path of our Lord and our calling is to live out our faith in the NOW of our lives full of hope and love. The world needs to see this kind of powerful love and faith too — the kind that cannot be squeltched.

Jesus stated at the end of the Gospel of Mark “These signs SHALL follow those that BELIEVE in me…they shall lay hands on the the sick and they SHALL recover…” i also point out that Jesus was UNABLE TO DO MIGHTY MIRACLES in his hometown due to thier unbelief. His disciples were not able to heal a boy, Jesus healed the boy, then his disciples pulled him aside and asked why they were unable to. Because of your unbelief, some come out by prayer and fasting. Us humans tend to quickly give a reason why someone is not healed, we need to be truthful and say I am not sure. The true answer comes from Jesus. Otherwise we are guessing, then we should state so. ” You have not because we ask not”. Jesus also spoke about praying several times in the gospels, would be good to study what Jesus said.

Yes, the bottom line in our relationship with God and growth as children of God is dependent on our faith IN CHRIST, even and perhaps essentially so, inevitably so, when we experience trials and suffering. Faith working itself in love is the goal, the end is always good as God works in us.

Exodus 23:25 So many times when I go other places to eat there is no organic or non gmo foods. At times I am able to bring a dish to pass but outside of that it is very difficult. I try to remember to offer the situation up to the Lord as a sacrifice uniting it with the sacrifice of Jesus in His passion and death, but often I forget. We do always pray before and after the meals asking for blessing and in thanksgiving.
Some of the verses I believe God is talking about the healing of the soul which is more important. I am sure you agree. thank you so much for the verses.

Thank God for His healing power!!! Let us pray for each other because we are all family. God is our heavenLy Father and He required us to pray for each other(we do not have to know a person or the situation to pray for each other) Just pray because we all need God’s protection and covering.
