Raw Pumpkin Seed Butter

Raw Pumpkin Seed Butter

Raw pumpkin seeds are one of nature's true wonders. According to Dr. Mercola just 1/4 cup contains,

Nearly half of the recommended daily amount of magnesium, which participates in a wide range of vitally important physiological functions, including the creation of ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the energy molecules of your body), the synthesis of RNA and DNA, the pumping of your heart, proper bone and tooth formation, relaxation of your blood vessels, and proper bowel function.

Talk about a super food!

Best Way to Eat Pumpkin Seeds

To get the most out of the power-packed nutrition in pumpkin seeds, make sure to eat them raw. You can:

  • Sprinkle them on salads.
  • Include 1/8 – 1/4 cup in your super green breakfast smoothie.
  • Mix them with some raw nuts and dried fruit for a healthy trail mix.
  • Or, my favorite, make raw pumpkin seed butter!

Like anything out there, not all pumpkin seed butter recipes are created equal, which is why I highly recommend trying out this one by my very talented little-sister-in-Christ, Kelcie Morgan.

This sounds wonderful. I think adding so E of the pumpkin seed butter to a morning smoothie would be yummy!

Where do you get your pumpkin seeds from….actual pumpkin or from the bulk section of a store

We try to steer away from the bulk section – we’ve gotten enough bugs from them. :0

You can get pumpkin seeds from any good health food store.

        Dr. Z,
Thank you for all the content you and your wife post! It is very helpful!!!
What do you mean that you have gotten bugs (as in what kind of bugs) from the bulk section at the Health food store? We have shopped from bulk for years, though now we do most of our bulk ordering through Azure Standard. I am curious as my family has been struggling for a couple years to get our digestive tract back in order. Thanks so much!!!

          Hi Tara,

I literally mean “bugs” like worms and stuff. Yuck!!

We’ve gone to some pretty hard-core health food stores over the years and their sanitation standards are questionable sometimes.
