Essential oils are the cornerstone of Biblical health and this is why:
There is a verse in Revelation (22:2) that reads: “Down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.”
I can think of no other substance on earth that epitomizes this Bible scripture more than essential oils. They are the very essence of the leaves of trees and plants, and they are vehicles of healing.
What is Biblical Health?
I know what you’re probably thinking: What does Biblical health mean, exactly?
I get that a lot. I spend a lot of time talking to a lot of people about it. Whenever I travel, teach, or speak to groups, I introduce myself as a Biblical Health Educator. And the reaction I get to that title is typically, “Yeah, that’s great. That’s awesome.” I get a lot of encouragement because people love the Bible. They love health. And they love education. So they assume that all three of these individually must be good if you put them together. But most people don’t know what it really is.
Biblical health is not a list of ‘thou shalt not’s.’ Rather, it’s an overarching concept that it is your God-given duty and right to have and enjoy the abundant life that Christ refers to in John 10:10. God wants you to have the fullest expression of health, which goes well beyond having six-pack abs. It touches all areas of life. He gave us the instructions for how to achieve it throughout the Scriptures, and better yet, He gave us the tools for carrying out those instructions—with essential oils as one of the most powerful tools, with the ability to improve multiple facets of health.
Balancing the 7 Key Areas of the Abundant Life
There are seven areas of the abundant life, and you need to take care of them all: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, financial, occupational, and social. Every area of your life is connected to all the others. Like a chain, you are only as strong as your weakest link. If your physical body isn’t performing how it should, it’s going to weigh you down emotionally and cause strain in your relationships. If your job isn’t going well or you aren’t working up to your full potential, it’s going to impact your financial health and your mental health by raising your stress levels.
At its core, Biblical health is about balance.
The foods you eat, the drinks you consume, the supplements you take, the medicines you use, the thoughts you think, the emotions you carry around, the feelings you have about your job, your financial practices, the stressors you allow in your life—all of these contribute or take away from Biblical health. So you want to find a beneficial resting point in each of these areas so that no one is so low—or so high—that others get pulled off-kilter too. And you want to rely on essential oils, because they are such powerful tools.
Seeking Biblical health is truly a way of life, and it’s up to us to do our part.
Experiencing Your Own Biblical Health Transformation
When I became a Christian, two of my mentors impressed up on me four things that all but defined the course of my life’s purpose and ministry. I hope and pray you receive these four insights and let them penetrate your thinking so that you may experience your own Biblical health transformation:
- It is your duty to honor your body as the temple of the Holy Spirit.
- God has gifted your body with the remarkable ability to heal itself under the right conditions, and it is your job to do your part by living as healthy a lifestyle as you know how.
- Your health is your responsibility and not your doctor’s, nor your spouse’s, nor anyone else’s.
- Like all topics in the Bible, learning about health is a lifelong journey. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, so be patient and give yourself grace.
When my mentors taught me these things, I was empowered by the revelation that health is an act of worship and not something that I should focus on merely to be free of sickness. I also became empowered by the realization that I couldn’t take anyone’s word at face value. Paul’s admonishment to the Thessalonian church to “test all things and to hold fast to that which is good” became my guiding principle. Last, I was empowered by the realization that we’re all under construction and that I needed to give myself grace whenever I missed the mark.
To be clear, diets will be broken, cheat days will turn into cheat months, and you’ll end up doing things that you know better than to do. Don’t forget, it’s all OK.
More than just a cerebral knowledge type of understanding of Biblical health, this revelation produced in me first an unswerving conviction to give what Oswald Chambers refers to as “my utmost for His glory.” In his book, From Within I Rise, T.F. Hodge puts it this way, “You cannot build a dream on a foundation of sand. To weather the test of storms, it must be cemented in the heart with uncompromising conviction.”
Then, my conviction motivated me to act. As Thomas Carlyle once said, “Conviction is worthless unless it is converted into conduct.”
It is my sincere prayer that you, too, develop a conviction to pursue Biblical health and then start to act because it is the only way that you’ll be able to truly change.
Even if you don’t feel that conviction at this very moment, get started today on improving your health. As you learn how to do that in these pages, focus on the lowest hanging fruit—do those things that are easiest for you to implement right away to get some quick wins, which will increase your conviction. Take it line by line. Precept by precept. Here a little, there a little. If you allow the fundamental principles of my research about essential oils to adopt an essential oils-based Biblical health lifestyle, you will never look back.
Essential Oils: The Missing Link
If you’re not convinced that essential oils can be a game-changer along your health journey, trust me, you will once you start to use them!
I have worked with countless people, like myself, who stumbled upon the realization that they were the missing link to their Biblical health regimen.
Since I’m not affiliated with any brands of essential oils, I’m not beholden to anyone except science and God. I can assure you, essential oils aren’t hocus-pocus stuff. My goal is to reveal how to live a life that has true meaning and true fulfillment and recognizing God as the source of everything—He created heaven and earth and me and you for a divine purpose, and he gifted us things to help us fulfill that purpose. And essential oils are among His greatest gifts.
